With nearly 60k subscribers you think MEMRI TV, the official Twitter account of the Washington D.C.-based Middle East Media Research Institute would invest a great deal of time into making sure to they're checking their sources before putting out this type of content.

You can quickly tell this article feels very click-bate like. The author of the tweet didn't even bother to get the nationality of the analyst right. From a simple Google search, you can see this analyst is actually Iranian not Iraqi. That automatically discredits this source. An Iraqi citizen pointed this out as well.

Don't Spread False Information

One of the great things about Twitter is the fact Twitter armies are constantly fact-checking media sites that tweet out information.

With regard to the video MEMRI shared with their followers, the information was largely false and misconstrued. The quote had been misinterpreted and spread false ideas. In the comments thread, people pointed out that the information had been taken out of context.

This goes back to a journalist's responsibility to check their sources and not share false or misleading information on their social platforms. When journalists fact check, it saves people taking things out of context.
